and the peas are splendid! i have eaten many… its funny how the taste gets so much better when they’re fatter. i usually have at least one on my ride to work in the morning…

big peas! lots of peas!

big peas! lots of peas!

the pea plants are getting so big they’re threatening to pull the whole structure down. time for some reinforcements.

oh and the beans are getting fiesty too. they need some serious upward-heading strings, if they are to become pole beans…

explosive growth

June 8, 2009

the recent heat wave (90 degrees in seattle) did more than make me really tired from biking to work… it also made our garden explode! sadly, some of the lettuce died because it couldn’t stand the heat. but on the positive side, the peas went crazy (grew over a foot in a few days!), and everything else is looking great.

fully planted

June 4, 2009

our 3 plots are fully planted! in #1 (southernmost) we have 2 tomato starts in cages, as well as a ton of little plants that viv started from seed: broccoli, peppers, and more tomatoes.

plot #1: brocc, pepp, tomat.

in #2 (middle) we have the peas (now huge!) and beans and some lettuce alongside.

in #3 (abutting the disputed borderzone) we have zucchini hills as well as tomatoes and broccoli (not pictured yet):

actually all of the plots have growing amazingly since then, after a bunch of rain and then this week of 80-90 degree heat. the peas have skyrocketed and are flowering! i’ll post more photos soon.
